5 Days of CHA and How I survived It.

It's hard to believe that so much took place in 5 days...what a week it was! I visited with all my besties and met new friends. Our booth looked so darling and I constantly had to fight the urge to walk barefoot on the grassy floor. Our booths's theme was a tea party and decorating it didn't even seem like work. It took us 3 day to get everything in place and perfect.Photobucket
I can't even tell you how many times people asked where we got these. So HERE is the link to the online store where we bought them. They sell every color you can think of and the pricing is great.
Photobucket
On my down time, I prepared all the postcards for the first day of CHA. So many of you came to do a postcard, which made me so happy. I was shocked to see how many people didn't "remember" where to place the stamp. You see American... save snail mail!
Photobucket
My roomie Nina and I went to down town LA to get fresh flowers (she was the BEST roommate). We were freezing that morning!!! It was 33 degrees, which is cold for a cali girl! The best part is that the flower district had on all the air conditioners. At one point my chin started to shiver! We bought a massive amount of flowers and trying to carry them to the car was funny. She and I booth couldn't see where we were going.
Photobucket
With all the flowers back in our booth, I made over 20 flower arrangement's and we place little pebbles all over the booth. It was nice having an "out doors booth", being that we were in doors for DAYS! We didn't win best booth, but my good buddies at Fiskars did. I was so proud of them!
Photobucket Photobucket
I think my favorite part of the booth...besides my collections ;) where the little details. We made wood nobs look like mushrooms and had gold was sprinkled here and there.
Photobucket Photobucket
I can't believe how many people loved Special Delivery! Almost every single order that came in... had Special Delivery on it. There were soooo MANY photos taken of the papers, embellishments and projects. It was hard to hold back my smile and being giddy over all the attention it got.
Photobucket
I made this neat little smile daily sign, which I'll show you later how I made it. It costs almost nothing to make it and it makes a cute gift.
Photobucket
Sunkissed also got a lot of lovin. EVERYONE loved the swimmer, which made my heart swoon. As a designer, it's hard to know exactly what the public will love and somehow I got lucky. This collection also sold really well and was photographed a ton! I can't wait to see how the scrappy world uses it.
Photobucket

Oh and funny enough, Paper Source LOVED my pom pom on twine idea and rolled with twine paper stacks. They want to produce it for the stores all across America. Cool right?! I was happy CHA came, but even more happy it went. I missed my boys and am happy to just be a mommy again. I missed Mr. Sonboul's XOXO and holding his hand. He did the best job watching the boys and even cleaned our home. Major brownie points for him! Now all I have to do is finish my Signature Series book and I can go into hibernation for a few weeks lol. I'm looking forward to that!

2 kooky girls

I'm loving visiting with all my talented bosom buddies. I thought I would just pop in to say hello and to share this layout I made with SunKissed. My letter stickers are white cardstock, which will allow you to ink them up or mist them.
Photobucket
This flower is from my tag paper and I popped it up and blinged it out with glitter. Photobucket Remember... if you are coming to the show, stop by on Saturday and send home a postcard. I have about 120, so supplies may go fast. I'm also teaching a make and take on Monday. This will all take place in booth 665.

From Beast to Beauty - The Hutch Story

Photobucket
This story begins with me having a dream about a BIG o'l Heavy hutch for my CHA booth space. As soon as I woke up, I got dressed and went over to the Goodwill. The store had a 30% off on all furniture, which was awesome. I walked to the back of the store and there it was. An old beautiful hutch, longing to be revamped. As I checked out of the store, it came out to $115.00.

I got it home and knew that it needed fresh paint...Mint Green to be exact. Mr. Sonboul thought I was crazy to paint such a nice piece of WOOD furniture. Together we sanded down the beast and after FOUR coats of paint, it was complete. Oh and I spray painted the handles silver. Having it in our home was perfect. It allowed me to dress it up, just as I would do it for the show. So here it is in all it's glory. I hope you adore it as much as I do AND go me for recycling!

Doing A Midnight Test Run

Am I lacking Sleep? Totally!
Photobucket
For the past 6 days, I've been literally working non stop. I have so many ideas and I want to make sure that everything gets done before we set up the booth. I'm so excited to have two collections this time around and wanting everything to be perfect has caused me to feel guilty at night. So I've been staying up until 4-5am every night... to make sure I get it all done. Last night I finished the last thing  on my "to do" list and decided to stage everything in my home.  Seeing all the hard work in place and styled, made me take a deep breath of relief! It charming, which makes me happy. So here are a few sneaks, because I'm too impatient to wait for the show. lol

You gotta love Home Depot for making the paint color on the boy's desk, match perfectly to Calvin's Race paper (the one with the horses).

I'll take some photos of it all in the booth and report back later.

Do leave a comment and let me know what you think. Again, I'm so nerves to share everything.

How to make a Cute Standee

Photobucket

All of my CHA booth projects are coming along fine and dandy and today while making this, I had a thought... "Hey, you should share Mr. Mailman on the blog". This handsome fella is on one of my tag papers and was doodled by my brilliant friend for my Special Delivery collection. I wanted him to make a presence at the show, so I turned him into a standee. He was super easy and cheap to make.
Photobucket
I first printed him out on photo paper and cut him out. I pulled these supplies and traced him onto the foam core board. Cut him out (leaving a half circle for his stand) and adhered the photo to the board.

Using the scraps of the foam core board, I created the legs for the stand and super glued them in place. When I was all done, I was so pleased with myself! This could be so cute for your kids on the first day of school. I'm going to do one of me and put it in their back packs with a note. Or this could be neat for birthdays and a cut out of the birthday boy... or girl. You could do one of your pet... or your man ;)

The possibilities are endless! If you make one, do share it here. I'd love to see what you make.

Pom Pom Banner Anyone?

Photobucket
I have always LOVED pom poms! I can remember watching mom and having her teach me how to make them. Their soft and fuzzy feel...is oh so fun! Being that CHA winter setup is less than a week away, I've been uber busy designing projects for my booth space. I determined that a pom pom banner would be a splendid look for SunKiss. I headed to Joann's and found yarn that matched this paper. I was so trilled to find all the colors I needed and got started on it the moment I walked in the door. By 3am I was COVERED in yarn fuzz and had a show box packed with charming little pom poms.
Photobucket
Photobucket
The steps are so simple. To see how to make the pom poms, you can visit my bosom buddies blog.
Once you've got your shoe box full of pom poms, grab some twine. Simply do an overhand knot and put the pom pom in the middle. Pull the knot tight and fluff the ball. I told you it was easy! Later next week, I'll show you how I used them in my booth space.

Because Calvin Told Me I Couldn't Touch His Stuff!

Photobucket

Before you pass judgment on this photo, you must know the story behind it.

I had just finished working out and I walked into the boy's room to see if they had cleaned their room and got dressed. Bradley worked fast and was super obedient .. and Calvin? Well Calvin was literally sitting on his bed picking his nose.

So I say: "Um, why aren't you done?"
Calvin: "because cleaning is boring and I don't want to!!".
Me: "If you don't get up right now and start cleaning, I'm going to get a bag!"
Calvin: "YOU CAN'T TOUCH MY STUFF!!!!!!!"

Listen... I don't think any of us really know 100% what to do as parents and when they push buttons after trying to be nice, we sometimes snap in the oddest ways. With no hesitation, I snatched up the  legos he was holding in his hand. I tossed it down my sweaty shirt and gave him "that mom look", ya know... I dare you to challenge me.

Calvin: "YOU CAN'T DO THAT!!! YOU'RE SO MEAN TO ME!!!!".

It was at that moment I just started shoving anything I could find DOWN my shirt, that belonged to him and yes even in my pants. And when I heard him start to laugh, I followed it up with. "Good, now that you are happy again... please clean your room" and walked back out of the room.

He cleaned the room, got dressed, and I kept my cool. It might not have been the best parenting, but it ending with laughter and a clean room.

:)

Hello SunKissed

Here I am again with another post about my 2nd collection. I still can't believe I've made it to this point in my crafty little life. That I'm making my very own papers and I'm going to be completely honest. I'm totally scared to death. I stayed up all night thinking "what will the craft world think of these two collections?". I'm crossing my fingers you will like them as much as I do. That you are able to dream up many projects to make with these paper and embellishments.

If you've been reading my blog, you'll know that I'm a Cali girl. I grew up hanging out at the beach and skating, tanning and enjoying the sunshine. I really wanted to make something that reminds me to be happy and so I went with the brightest and cheerful colors I could think of. This is what I came up with
