My son doesn't have any of the devices that "everyone" else has and he does just fine in restaurants, the car, etc. In fact, I'd say he does better than those kids who need to be entertained every second.Cindy deRosierhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15548172713029101167noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3335796346324198710.post-26685130015941530342012-09-21T07:15:26.364-07:002012-09-21T07:15:26.364-07:00I have to say that I feel the same way! They want to be on it every chance they get. We don't allow it during family time but whenever they have free time they are all over it. We had to break the habit of them always wanting our phones when we were at a restaurant or in the car.

On another note - good luck at your weigh in tonight. You are doing great! I have caught some of your posts recently and am on a similar journey to getting fit and healthy trying to lose 100+ pounds. I also have been blogging about it and it is helped me be so much more accountable. No matter what the scale says today, just remember what you do each day week in and week out is what makes the difference. One week's weigh in is just a moment in time.

PS - I don't know if you remember me I used to own Color Me Daisy kit club and you guest designed for us 2-3 years ago!
Michellehttp://gettinghealthyinthemiddle.com/noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3335796346324198710.post-41711286179515921892012-09-19T09:41:44.247-07:002012-09-19T09:41:44.247-07:00My kids both have kindle fires and re's loaded...My kids both have kindle fires and re's loaded with games and learning apps. Everyday they have to do the learning games before they get sucked into Angry Birds and Temple Run. But the quickest way to get their attention is to threaten to take the games away. But long drives are soooooooooooooooo much better with games!!!!!!!!!Ginahttps://www.blogger.com/profile/06666248200757188361noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3335796346324198710.post-34995642368513357772012-09-19T07:23:54.500-07:002012-09-19T07:23:54.500-07:00We limit ours too. No cell phones or other devices at the dinner table or restaurants, they have to be on their chargers at bedtime (downstairs of course)and no using phone when company is over. I'm lucky that my kids have never really been into gaming systems. They only play them when they have friends over. We don't even have a laptop, i pad, kindle or i phone. Too expensive!Beth Hallgrenhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08915250336939508533noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-3335796346324198710.post-10379130068455180302012-09-19T05:15:02.417-07:002012-09-19T05:15:02.417-07:00OMG!!! Soooo funny that you referenced Wall-E!!!! ...OMG!!! Soooo funny that you referenced Wall-E!!!! I have been saying it for the past couple of years!! I even told this very big (as in tall, mountain works out alot, can kick my butt) guy at the T-Mobile store that we are turning into wall e people with all the electronics, mind you as he is playing on his phone. He stopped for a second and agreed and went back to playing on his phone. I do not have an iphone. I have a dinosaur of a flip phone (that sucks). But, I don't want nor need one that does all things they were showing me they do. You don't have to think so much with the iphones, as it does alot of it for you. I don't own an ipod. There is one ipod touch my husband won at work. It is shared between him and the two kids. We do have the wii, but they have to ask if they can play on it. But I totally agree, what is wrong with talking to a person. No, you are not the only parent who doesn't allow their kids to have a DS. Mine don't have one. They can't play on what devices we have whenever either. Someone gave my 14 yr old an iPad. She is limited to her time on that too. If I bust her on it when she shouldn't be, I confiscate it. Oh, and she doesn't have a cell phone either. Probably the only one in the high school who doesn't.Michellehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08895535159666065770noreply@blogger.com
